The Black Collective for Arts & Education (BCAE) is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization founded in 2025 by community organizers and educators who have been producing arts, culture, and adult education programming for several years prior starting in 2021. The organization was created in response to a clear need for more intentional spaces where Black adults could access culturally grounded education, creative expression, and community-centered learning experiences. What began as grassroots workshops and small community gatherings grew into larger events, projects and conferences, leading to the formal establishment of BCAE to expand the reach and sustainability of this work. Today, the organization continues to build programming that centers community connection, education, and cultural engagement.
Existing systems create barriers and limit access to sex education and creative resources for Black, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, and communities of color. We want to normalize pleasure-centered, liberation-driven, culturally relevant education and make it accessible within our communities. By investing in community and creating space for learning and connection, BCAE hopes to strengthen networks of care, expand access to knowledge, and inspire lasting cultural change around sexuality, wellness, and liberation.
BCAE approaches community building by creating intentional spaces that prioritize cultural relevance, accessibility, and shared learning experiences. Through workshops, gatherings, and collaborative programming, the organization fosters environments where participants can build relationships, share knowledge, and feel a sense of belonging. This approach has supported increased community connection, expanded access to educational resources, and created opportunities for participants to develop skills, confidence, and leadership within their communities.
